Helen - Rigging Design and Fabrication
For University Theater’s production of Ellen McLaughlin’s Helen, the scenic design called for draped fabric to create walls around the main acting space. Throughout each performance, the fabric would subtly move towards center stage, creating a looming effect. To accomplish this, custom rigging was designed that would allow all four of the battens supporting the fabric to be pulled simultaneously towards a single point in the grid.
